Principal's Term

Referring to the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture (Permendikbud) Number 6 of 2018, the Principal (Kepsek) is a teacher who is assigned to lead and manage educational units. headmaster.

To reinforce the term of office of the Principal (Kepsek) the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation (Permendikbud) Number 6 of 2018 concerning Assignment of Teachers as Principals (Kepsek) was issued.

As mentioned in Article 12 of the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture (Permendikbud) Number 6 of 2018 the term of office of the Principal (Kepsek) is as follows;

1. The assignment of school principals to educational units organized by local governments, including in special areas, is carried out with periodization.

2. Periodization as referred to in paragraph (1), each period is carried out within a period of 4 (four) years.

3. After completing the assignment in the first period, the Principal may extend his assignment for a maximum of 3 (three) periods or a maximum of 12 (twelve) years.

4. The assignment of the Principal for the first period to the same base administration unit is at least 2 (two) years and a maximum of 2 (two) periods or 8 (eight) years.

5. The assignment of the Principal as referred to in paragraph (1) is based on the results of the annual work performance assessment with the lowest designation "Good".

6. In the event that the results of the work performance assessment do not reach the lowest designation "Good", the Principal concerned cannot be extended his term of office as Principal.

7. The principal whose term of office is not extended as referred to in paragraph (6) may be reassigned as a teacher.

8. After completing the assignment in the third period, the principal may be extended his assignment for the fourth period after going through a competency test.

9. The implementation of the competency test as referred to in paragraph (8) is based on the provisions of the legislation.

10. The re-assignment as a teacher as referred to in paragraph (7) is carried out by the Provincial, Regency/City Education Office in accordance with their authority by taking into account the needs and number of teachers in their area.
